I have had a Secret clearance for over 20 years.
I started working at a new job at a very large defense contractor and must apply for a TS.
My question is: Is it typical to be granted an Interim Top Secret if I qualify? While of course waiting on the rest of the clearance process to complete and adjudicate.

Typical? I’d say no. In my experience, interims for anything higher than secret are usually only granted to military, maybe civilian employees of government agencies who are already employees (as opposed to new hires).
Now that I’ve said that, you’ll probably get an interim But I reserve the right to be surprised.
