DOD Non Sensitive Position T1 5 year CV requirement

First post. Glad to be here.

Reddit SecurityClearance-ModTeam delete/lock my comments regarding T1 5 year requirements for DOD employees in SAR 8/non sensitive positions. A person, who I speculate is a mod is adamant that 5 CFR 731 states T1’s are required to enroll into CE/CV at the 5 year mark. And every 5 year there after. My stance is 5 CFR 731 states no such thing. The 5 year requirement is only applicable to individuals in National Security positions, Special Sensitive, CS, NCS who fill out an SF86 every 5 years. It’s also applicable for Non Sensitive Public Trust positions. T1’s do not have a 5 year requirement for DOD.

I need a sanity check here. Please chime in and let me know if I’m wrong or not. If I am I have a lot of 5 year T1’s to submit.

I found this explanation on the NIH gov website

  • Tier 1 = will be going through reinvestigations in preparation for Trusted Workforce (TW) 2.0 and Continuous Evaluation if the Tier 1 investigation on file is more than 10 years old.
  • Tiers 2 & 4 = periodic reinvestigation required every 5 years.
  • Tier 3 = periodic reinvestigation required every 10 years.
  • Tier 5 Critical Sensitive = periodic reinvestigation required every 7 years.
  • Tier 5 Special Sensitive (with SCI) = periodic reinvestigation required every 7 years.

Extremely dated I believe. All SF86 reviews are 5 years now for T3 and T5’s. For DOD anyways.

Wondering about T1’s
