Does dual nationality stretch the process?

Been talking to my colleagues, seems many of them got their TS in a year or just under. I’m a naturalized US citizen (became one in '06). I’ve interim TS, 500 days so far in the pipeline and no final adjuducation. Are waiting periods like this normal for foreign born, naturalized US citizens?

Thank you for any heads up.

It depends on the agency. Some do not allow dual citizenships at all. But for most, dual citizenship in and of itself is usually not an issue if you clearly show your allegiance to the US. But having foreign assets (bank accounts, property, etc) or relationships with foreign nationals (including family) absolutely will stretch it out. Investigators have to identify, locate and speak to those foreign nationals or access and review those foreign assets.

Some people on here have said they are going on several years with no end in sight because they have so many foreign friends/family that the BIs can’t get a hold of to interview.
