So I am currently a defense contractor in the middle east, already have my TS/SCI. Been applying to federal jobs recently, & have had a few interviews. I just thought about this - If I end up with an offer, how am I logistically going to take a drug test? I have my family over here and can’t move back to the states until the end of the year.

Would the hiring agency waive the test since I’m already cleared, or just hold off and make me take it later? Would they have me fly back to the states or maybe Germany to take one? Just wondering if anyone else has been in this position, and how it was handled.

Some IC agencies will ask you to wait until you’re back in the US. On the other hand, some places mail you a package with the test kit and you’re supposed to go to some approved location to have it collected and sent back… possibly they can do that for some overseas locations?

At any rate an interesting question I don’t think we’ve seen before.
