Not necessarily clearance related, but does anyone have experience moving from excepted service to competitive? I have talked to some who say it’s no big deal and others who kind of shake their heads and tell you you’re “stuck” there. The vast majority of jobs I would be interested in going to are competitive.
My understanding is that moving to competitive will be the same for you as anyone off the street. You are not eligible to apply as a current employee, internal candidate, but can only apply when a position is opened to the public.
