I am a retired USAF First Sergeant (retired 2006) I went and worked in Iraq as a contractor with my secret clearance for a 2.5 years. I came home in 2009 and my clearance expired in 2010. How hard is it to get it back to get a government job? Thank you
You cannot be processed for reinstatement of a clearance until there is a legitimate need for one. Once you are hired for a position that needs one then you will have to go through the background investigation process due to the fact that you have been separated for over 24 months from the employer that granted your previous clearance.
