Is my security clearance able to be reinstated or has it completely expired?

Hello,

I held a TS/SCI clearance for about 12 years but eventually decided to leave the intelligence field and go to nursing school. I left my last job using my clearance in December 2021 but now I’d like to try to re-enter the field and perhaps just work a few nursing shifts here and there to maintain my license. I’m trying to figure out if my clearance has completely expired and I’d have to start from scratch trying to get a new one or if my clearance is at a point where it can just be reinstated. Any help/guidance is appreciated!

If you have a break of 24 months or longer from when you last were in a position that required the clearance you will have to undergo a new investigation.

I don’t know how it is with your employer, but we have been told repeatedly by our company we are not allowed to have a separate job while holding a cleared FT job with them. It may depend on the company so you should at least check on that beforehand.
