Extended Hiring Freeze - Pulse Check

I just received a similar email this morning. I’m still waiting to hear if I’m even cleared or not.

Same boat as you. Still waiting hearing on if i’m cleared or not.

Does anyone know if the hiring freeze will actually be lifted July 15th?

I suspect there isn’t a single person alive that knows the true answer to that.

As of now, nothing definitive. There is talk (rumors) that some agencies are critically understaffed and need to start hiring again. Now that Elon Musk has left government service, I would like to remain optimistic that at least parts of the government would likely lift their hiring freeze. Agencies such as NOAA have made numerous statements to the media that they are understaffed and they need to hire more employees in order to be properly meet their demands for hurricane season.

Other media posts suggest that once agencies begin to hire again, they would only be allowed to fill one position for every four where someone leaves. This would continue the reduction in force trend. Agencies such as FBI, CIA, and DHS are the ones hiring right now at (mostly) full capacity.

The other DoD and IC agencies might start hiring after July 15th due their critical mission needs and the work they perform. At this point, no one can know for certain if the hiring freeze will be lifted after July 15th.

I heard it from an inside source that the FBI has “delays” in processsing due to the civilian. This means FBI is probably in a similar situation that the NSA is in except that the FBI is posting jobs. The jobs that applicants have applies to are still being processed and if applicants have received CJOs, they are also still being processed.

I also heard that they will be posting some more jobs soon. It looks like these agencies are experiencing budget issues and that in turn is also causing issues with hiring and posting jobs. Once the hiring freeze and and new fiscal year starts, there will be a better estimate of the situation.

Looks like some new jobs have been posted on IC Candidate Portal for the first time in months. Maybe they are preparing to begin hiring again once the current hiring freeze period is over.

The question is now, for us professionals who are in the private sector, is it even worth trying at this point with the currently instability of the federal workforce? Is it worth trying when congress is attempting to strip away all the perks of being a federal worker and when it is practically guaranteed to have no raises for the next 3 years?

Been waiting to hear about my TS/SCI’s status (should be in adjudication by now) since the beginning of April. Should I just expect not to hear anything until the freeze is lifted?

I’m to be with ODNI

DIA’s hiring page is down (previously just blank with mention of hiring freeze) and the DIA webpage seems to have removed all of the links, references, and information for Careers. I wonder if they are rebooting everything in anticipation of hiring again (wishful thinking?).

Curious to know if anyone else received the New Candidate Information Session email? I’m currently processing so confused on why it was sent out since im closer to the end of processing.

I’m in the same boat but with the 3 letter agency. I’ve done check-ins with my recruiter, but there hasn’t been any update on their end for a while.

Did your BI start after you finished your 2-day onsite? I finished my 2-day about a month ago. But my BI doesn’t seem to have kicked off yet. But it seems I did maybe pass my poly + medical as I haven’t heard anything but “actively processing”

Internal DoD… does that mean DIA people?

For a while even internal moves were frozen at many agencies as they tried to figure out how many employees might need to be RIF’d and who those employees might be.

I got an email today from Air Force civilian hiring advertising job openings… first one in quite a while.

Told last Thursday the “you lose every position for those accepting DRP,” WAS NO LONGER A THING. Instead of losing 41 of 74, we lose 9 positions. I feel good one of the 31 can break my way. Otherwise I’m a pumpkin by Halloween.

I think we will see them lift a major part of the freeze.

I’ve just been checked up on and asked if I was still interested in a position with them about last week or so. Other than that no not really. A kind of good sign is that they are now posting new jobs on their site.
