Extended Hiring Freeze - Pulse Check

Did you also get emails from them in May and June seeing if you were interested in continuing with the Pre-Employment Process?

Two emails asking if I was still interested in processing for the job I was originally offered, yes.

Oh cool. I received the same. Hopefully I’ll get something this week from HR as well :crossed_fingers:

Has anyone on the CCL without an FJO (just cleared suitability) heard anything?

Has anyone recently been cleared? Thanks

Nope. Passed my poly earlier this year and nothing since

Received final offer today for analyst position in MD. They are filling a limited number of spots before FY26. I tried to see if they could push my start date back (offered 9/22) but was told they couldn’t guarantee me anything if I waited.

This makes sense. Probably similar for NVA agency. If your role is absolutely critical they’ll do it - if not it seems they are rescinding all COE/FJOs…

I agree—does anyone happen to know which roles are exempt? Curious about program management in particular.

They have a position currently open for Program Management Development Program, so it’s possible that it could be exempted.

Hi, has anyone received updates from their recruiter? Mine has gone silent when I’ve asked about adjudication. With the freeze, the job market feels bleak. This CJO was my one hopeful lead, and now I’m back to applying endlessly. I’ve been job searching for a year as a new master’s grad and would appreciate any advice on navigating this market.

Hang in there. They are hiring a select number of exempted positions. I’ve been told that slots for some entry level programs (including mine) are only guaranteed until October, I assume because of the next budget deadline. Hopefully after that, the hiring freeze is lifted on October 15th and hiring picks back up for those that have been cleared for hire.

I keep hearing of exceptions…but never concretely seeing them

this is spot on. im assuming all COEs pulled by Oct 1st and they restart all over again.

I’m hearing that most DoD IC agencies are still planning to release 2026 internship applications sometime in September/October when FY2026 budget is finalized and in effect… I foresee a huge recruitment effort in the coming months

They had some ambitious plans back in 2023/24 which kinda got put in the deep freeze. They may need to readjust based on continuing efforts to right-size, streamline, or whatever your favorite word is for getting rid of a lot of extraneous people at high levels who are not working on actual mission operations.

Just looked on NRO site today - they had positions listed on their career site. NGA portal still have 0 positions and DIA job portal is still down.

EDIT (8/26): NRO now has a banner that reads: “NRO has received approval from the Department of Defense to hire for specific critical positions during the hiring freeze, per DOD memorandum “Immediate Civilian Hiring Freeze for Alignment with National Defense Priorities” dated 28 February.”

The problem is that the kinds of people you are referencing are not the ones being terminated.

I just received a second email asking me to keep my application active in the system. At this stage, all I’m really waiting on is to know whether I’ve been cleared or not. Does anyone know if there’s a contact I can reach out to for an update on my clearance processing? I asked my recruiter, but they mentioned they don’t have access to that information.

unfortunately its a waiting game. If it’s been well beyond the normal timeline you could contact your congressperson
