Are we expecting or seeing faster clearance timelines due to the hiring freeze for candidates that the freeze isn’t affecting? Like special jobs or certain contracts? I would expect for the timelines to get better since there is not a glut of people coming in as much.
My understanding, and I welcome correction on this by investigators, is that a lot of the timeline for clearances isn’t due to workload but rather due to the time it takes things to happen. Example, you call Contact X to talk about Candidate Y. Contact X is busy but can set up a time to have the full discussion this Saturday at 10. So you have to wait until Saturday at 10 to meet with Contact X, which takes time, and then type up the report, and then cross-reference that report with other reports, and then call Contact Z, and the cycle starts all over again.
Sure that’s just the investigation part though. For a lot of places now the bottleneck isn’t investigation it’s now at adjudication.
IDK. I completed my poly in March and haven’t heard anything other than them asking if I wanted to continue process. And I already have a current clearance
Agreed, investigations can be rushed and/or fudged as needed but adjudicators are probably flummoxed on guidelines and changing morality of today. I can understand their difficulty.
That’s certainly where mine is stuck. Going on 5 months in adjudication. At least during the investigation I was able to answer the investigator’s questions and get other contacts to respond to his questions quickly. That moved things along, but no similar ability now.
