fired for performance and have ts sci

I was terminated for performance 3 weeks ago. I was never given any warning or anything. Had great reviews, raises. Have a ts with sci. I am applying to a company and they wanted my ss# so they can see about transferring my clearance. It will now be just a secret. Should I be worried it wont transfer due to firing for performance? I was not asked this question, yet. Thanks.

Terminations based on performance have no relevance when it comes to security clearance eligibility as long as you disclose it when asked or when filling out SF questionnaires.

Unless the termination reflects on your honesty, judgment, or trustworthiness, you should be fine. If it’s just that your work product was not up to snuff, that shouldn’t cause any issues. As Marko said, it’s just important to be honest.

I have to respectfully disagree here. I actually am in the process of an appeal and they are inappropriately trying to imply i was “terminated for performance” when in fact i was “terminated” because they denied my clearance when i applied for a PT job even though i was already employed at a much more important job at another agency.

I never lied about anything but they are trying to say i lied about termination and that in fact i was fired for cause of “performance” even though the cause was something completely out of control. This agency, NSA, is being quite cavalier when it comes to what they consider a “termination”, A “firing”, “Cause” and “performance” . I seems like they are trying a work around when it comes to this question on SF86. They, the reports agent, is clearly being quite overzealous in my case regarding this.
