Foreign government sponsorship

Hi everyone,

Today I found out that a person I helped sponsor for permanent residency (I was the co-sponsor, and my sister was the main sponsor) previously had party membership in a foreign government (Yellow flag country). This person was not really involved in any government duties, but joined for career advancement. The membership was abandoned over 5 years ago, and this person is now a permanent resident in the U.S. I honestly was not aware of this information until I asked my sister about this permanent resident information to fill out SF86.

I helped as a co-sponsor in the immigration process 2 years ago, so I need to disclose this information in the SF-86 sponsorship section. The last time I was in contact with this person was just outside the 7-year window. Do I still need to disclose this in the foreign contact section?

I will definitely answer honestly if asked, but I am not sure how to disclose this information on the form.

I’m going for a Secret clearance. Do I still have a good chance for my clearance?

Answer to what the question is asking and provide in-depth comments as to what, when, why, and how it all transpired. It should not preclude you from getting cleared if no other issues are present.

Thank you.

So I guess this scenario does not qualify as a foreign contact since the last contact is just outside of the 7 years window?
