By now, everyone has seen the news about the current administration’s attempts to downsize the government workforce by offering civil servants “the fork in the road” option called Deferred Resignation Program (DRP). It is run by the Office of Personnel Management and basically, anyone who took the offer was put on administrative leave in February…
DOD employee here who took the DR…I still am subject to all reporting requirements, random drug screens, and updated my clearance while on administrative leave. We also (at least my dept) had to get private sector jobs approved to work elsewhere. I heard some who took the DR were not permitted to work for contractors, while others were allowed. It seemed to depend on the actual positions. My dept was national security positions with TS clearance.

Friend of mine took the DRP and has not yet been debriefed, which seems odd to me.
No one i knew was. I don’t think most of our positions will be. Honestly, we had little time and lots of unanswered questions and it was very chaotic.
