IC Poly and Adjudication Process

Just adding to the topic…

I have active TS/SCI, took CI Poly March 7th…thankfully i am employed, just cant do alot of my job without the Poly part…but I too got the “It all looks good, but you had some high levels on xxxx”…

i have heard the rumors that CI and Full Scope might be slowly becoming one, and i just wanted to share that mine was a CI Poly supposedly, but i was there 5 hours, and I had 2 questions that were not CI in my mind, they were more personal in nature…anyone else experience this or similar?

I will post when it comes through adjudication, but it sounds like summertime most likely at the earliest for me from what I’ve read, but then again who knows…

What were the two questions that were not CI but more personal in nature? Were they formal polygraph questions (asked while you were hooked up to the polygraph), or were they asked at some other point in the process?

One was something like “Have you ever done anything that would cause your spouse or loved one to lose your trust” and the other was about the same but worded differently…like “Have i ever done anything to my spouse or loved one that would damage my integrity”

loosely interpreted, i cant remember the exact wording. These were formal questions recorded during the actual polygraph…so they are “kind of” CI…maybe because they are using the words “trust” and “integrity” but i dunno…it seemed more personal to me

Okay, I understand. These personal questions are called “probable-lie control questions.” The polygraph operator assumes that everyone will lie when answering these questions (to which you will have been steered to make a categorical denial). The polygraph operator attempts to mislead the subject into believing that the “control” questions are actually relevant. Reactions to these “control” questions are compared with reactions to adjacent relevant questions, so showing a strong reaction to the “control” questions is actually to your advantage. See Chapter 3 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector for more about control questions and their function in polygraphy.

Ok, wow, thank you for the info…I will look into that. Lots of good info here

Or something like: “have you ever done anything that you think would make someone think less highly of you?” I remember that and it was a CI poly.

That, too, is a probable-lie “control” question.

Generic question - how are you notified that you have been adjudicated successfully? Call, email or letter?

Bishop that is like the have you in your opinion driven drunk question, lol. I say absence of any field sobriety test or breath, blood urine…I’m going with no.

That, too, has been used as a probable-lie “control” question. It is entirely inappropriate.

When was your SF-86 submitted?

Did any of you tax letter folks get a credit check?
I never saw one.

You may not see it, I’ve seen several people on here say they never saw the pull but the investigator had thier credit info.

I think it’s a soft pull, so it may not trigger anything that would trigger in an identity theft attempt.

It’s a soft pull. You won’t notice it through services like Credit Karma. You will need to pull a full credit report to see the soft inquiries (you get one free for each service per year, so consider spreading them out, maybe 1 month after you submit, then 3, then 6 months).

A good news story for a change. My timeline was rather quick. IC hire GS to GG. In access TS/SCI at the time of COE with a fresh T5 (14 months old). No prior IC employment.

Interview/COE - end of Nov 18
SF-86 turned in mid Dec 18
Med/Psych - Feb 19
Poly - Mar 19
Cleared with EOD - 01 May 19

End to end - 136 days

No personal interview. I believe they used items from the last T5 which I find a bit surprising considering the Agency. Well, I guess they kind of interviewed me through the psych and poly but no formal interview with an investigator.

I think this is a huge outlier as my friends in this agency said a year to a year and a half and were shocked I cleared so quickly. Anyway, it is a data point. Good luck to all.
