Hi everyone, I’m going to ask about foreign contact and getting Ts in the Navy.
1 I am divorced and remarried and my wife is from Thailand she has 2 kids. One is in college in Thailand the other is living here in the US and will be a junior in HS next year. They all have their permanent residence card and ss# .
2 my daughter lives with her mother and attends college in her city. About 15 minutes away.
My daughter entered the Navy and her rate was Intelligence specialist which needs a TS .
She filled out the paperwork (I believe it was the sf86? Not really sure, just guessing) . She filled out the packet not realising that my new wife and kids were foreign contacts and failed to list them. Apparently at some point her package was lost and we received notification that they were investigating the lost packet. She filled out another packet completely this time and it was sent in(supposedly). We never heard anything. Just the recruiter telling her she was approved for Intelligence specialist.
She is in boot camp for about a week. She calls me on Father’s Day and everything is going good. She had the first few days blues but quickly got over it. She tell me she will be calling this week because they don’t have any information and will need my wife’s information.
My daughter calls me today, dad … they don’t have their information so she write down their basic information she was asked to get. She gave me an email address to send the documents everyone has . She’s happy and looking forward to getting to the real training .
An hour later (before I could send the information) she call again this time crying.
They said I can’t get a TS because Thailand is a medium threat country.
I understand the TS is not easy to get. But wouldn’t there be an investigation into her?
Her background, her foreign contacts?

And I’m curious, is Thailand a friendly country to the US ? Doesn’t our military train with the Thai military?
My wife has no political ties, no government employment… nothing .
I’m waiting to hear from my daughter, she said maybe a week before she can call again. I believe she has an appeal process but, I’m not really sure
I’m just curious about your thoughts on her contact with my wife.
Sorry for the rambling, I’m just trying to get some real information for my daughter when she calls me.
