Peraton vs CACI

Looking for any info from anyone who has worked for both companies (or the pros and cons and whatever info you can give of the one you are/were working for if you haven’t done both)

I know there will be a list of people saying “stay away”,“change careers”, etc. But I’m looking at a vs list.

Main information I’m seeking for each:

-Pay per level (estimated)

-pay periods (weekly, biweekly, semi monthly etc)

-extra opportunities (overtime/bonuses/etc)

-transmissions (how much are you required to transmit per day per level, and what is each thing “worth”)

-PTO/sick time accrual rates

-balance of remote to in person (is it everything remote at first unless those fail then go in person, or everything first attempt is in person)

Any input on 1099 workers would be appreciated too.

Edit to add: also any info on multiple contracts from each

I like Peraton best because they have better IT which makes admin processes easier.

I also prefer Peraton for the same reason. They have much better systems than the other one, more modern and where the other one has antiquated IT systems that are difficult to navigate and clunky. Peraton is more streamlined and easier to use and get your work done efficiently. I am a 1099 and Peraton’s pay system is automated and with the other one you have to manually enter everything. I could go on and on about this…

Ive worked for both over a period of two decades. Much prefer Peraton for a few reasons;

As others have noted, Peraton systems are far superior. Easier to navigate (I’m a dinosaur when it comes to technology) and better training materials.

I worked multiple contracts with Peraton, up to 7 at one point, but that was years ago. CACI I only worked DCSA, I like alternate contracts better.

As for bonuses, I made out at Peraton, not so much at CACI (to be fair it was a downtime in the industry as a whole, so may not be a fair comparison) Peraton bonuses were paid out about 6 to 8 weeks after the end of a quarter. There was one quarter (I think it was Q4 of 2025) when bonuses were NOT in the pay we all expected them to be. The were paid out in the next pay, two weeks later. That was the only time there seemed to be a glitch and I never did get an answer as to what happened.

Downside, no raises unless you go up a level, although I’ve been out of the field for a bit now, that may have changed. So if you stayed at a Level 5, even though you had years of experience, worked multi contracts and made your numbers, no base salary increase (or they were few and far between).

I cannot speak accurately to PTO, I was grandfathered in with 5 weeks of PTO each year, an option to carry over 3 weeks, so mine built up quickly.

When I left, everything was going to remote, and Peraton was ahead of CACI on that. By about 6 months. CACI leadership waited for some official word from DCSA (my understanding) whereas Peraton jumped on it the moment they heard it was going that way.

Transmissions, I’m trying to recall. I was a Level 5, and I want to think that I had to transmit 25 or 26 Source Units per week. Sources/ESIs were worth different points, some contracts weighted a Subject interview as 4 SU, I think most were 3.5. Again, this may have changed since DSCA is doing all remote now.

Pay was every two weeks, on a Friday.

OT was either none at all, or mandatory, depending on the region, the work volume etc, etc. OT is a double edged sword, yea, it’s more pay, ,but it can kill your stats if you are not careful.

I was an employee with both. Spent much more time at Peraton, and have been out of the field about a year now. I DO miss the TDY opportunities with Peraton…now that it’s all remote, those seem to have decreased significantly, and are usually only for alternate contracts.

The rebid is on horizon… I hope that means the government is mandated that they give the Investigator raises. I’m looking to jump to any company that is paying more. Any insight on the re-bid
