Purchasing Porn from a legal cam site (USC 2257) and Foreign National Contact

Hello, i recently purchased porn from a legal cam site . They show that they keep records in accordance with (usc 2257 and usc 2257 A). Also, while on the site i came into contact with a foreign national. I did the right thing and reported the contact with my FSO, but I’m concerned that these actions could jeopardize my secret clearance eligibility when i need to renew my clearance, could it? I am a newly hired engineer just out of college.

And for further clarification both the purchase of the video and encounter with the foreign national happened on my personal computer on my personal network on my time.

What did your FSO say when you reported?

I feel like i was backed into a corner when i reported. Because i could have done nothing (which was wrong), or do the right thing and report (which has led to me being anxious/concerned about the outcome, and maybe righlty so). I know that the best thing i should have done was to not even come into contact with the foreign national in the first place, And better yet not watch porn.

They just said if there is any other information needed while looking into the contact they will reach out to me.

Also, in my first email correspondence with my FSO i said i came into contact with a foreign national on a website, i described the frequency of the contact and i was told i should report it. I also asked if there would be any repercussions for reporting and i was told no, but if i didn’t report the contact there would likely result repercussions to an individuals clearance. I don’t know if that last sentence answers my own question. I’m just concerned given the context of the contact with the foreign national it would change things. I did make sure in the report form to provide the url where the contact occured as requested by my FSO.

Hard to say, I’m neither an FSO nor adjudicator but on the face of it, if all was legal, I don’t believe it is a major concern. I would imagine, if your FSO thought there was a problem, you would know sooner rather than later (Caveat being I only know what you shared, don’t know if how much money was involved, extent of contact, etc.).

Polite society wants to believe only perveted people view porn on line. The billions of dollars this industry makes says otherwise. You “aint the first, wont be last.” Not going to inject morality into this, I’ll just point out what may become security concerns. Viewing is one level, cam sites are a level higher leaving you open to potential blackmail depending on depth of interaction. Nobody wants their sexual practices openly revealed so it can be held over some people head to milk money from them. Therein lies the vulnerability. I say learn lesson, stay off those sites. Preaching to the choir here…billion dollar industry, people return again and again. But viewing legal age normal porn is not illegal. Dont hide it if asked about it…if they ask, they likely know.
