Reply after being denied 8 years ago

8 years ago, was submitted for a security clearance application where I lied on my college degree, which was incorrectly provided on my application. Consequently, my clearance was denied.

Today, I have an opportunity to be submitted for a security clearance with no lie or false information on my application.

So I should honestly apply again or appeal the previous one and make the correction appropriately?..

Thanks,

You cannot correct a previous clearance denial 8 years after the fact. You start the process all over again and ensure you answer ALL questions truthfully, to include the ones about a previous clearance denial. If you have not had any other issues since then, then time is a mitigating factor.

That’s right, no issues since and thanks so much for your time.
