I have been consulting for 16 years under my own s corp. I had a clearance with one of my customers who put me on there sponsorship. it expires in 2 months and I am no longer working for that company. can I take sponsorship of my own clearance through my s corp to keep it active and if so how much will that cost me?
If you hold zero classified contracts with your Corp, the answer is no. You only get the clearance eligibility by having a need to know (need to work on) classified, and the requisite successful background check. If you are looking to parlay this into other business ops, you would need have some classified work with the company sponsoring you if they did not already submit paperwork to close the clearance. We bring in consultants at times and then close the clearance when they no longer consult to us.
