Seeking a job with a current TS/SCI and CI Po getting close to the 24 month mark?

I have been applying for jobs and I have a current TS/SCI with ci po from my last cleared job that I left on August 15,2023. I have been applying for analysis jobs but no luck yet. I do get calls to relocate a lot but I can’t do that at this time. What are my options? How long would it take to get hired should I have an interview that works this week? My clearance is still valid but I am worried as it gets closer to the date. I just want to hold on to the clearance.

One possibility might be getting a job where you commute on the weekends or maybe once every other weekend.

I knew a guy who worked at Ft Meade MD but lived in Memphis TN. He went back home once every few weeks. Obviously this would not work for everyone but if you need to get a job it might be something to consider.

Apply for something they need urgently. Like splunk. Just say you’re familiar with it. They will hire you on the spot. Then go learn it.

Well I got a full time job that isn’t professional work that is 35 min from me and I am not sure I can keep at it because there really wouldn’t be much learning which I love going on. It does req a ts/sci though which I have but the ci poly I have won’t be used. I got it 2022. Do you think if I obtain a job that uses skills from my previous job and leave this job a few weeks or month in that it will make the TS sci transfer complex or stall?

That’s a distinct possibility. The other thing you have to consider is let’s say you’re making $100,000 a year (or whatever lofty salary a person is making), lose that job and take a job paying say $50,000 just to keep their clearance active– now your current salary is $50K and that’s what most places will want to pay you. Yeah you can try to hold out for something better than your old salary but it is a risk… I’m curious to see what other folks think of this.
