I recently found out the agency I had been processing for had rescinded my offer. I did however receive clearance eligibility (TS/SCI). To be clear, I was never read on or started working at the job. I have looked online at what it means for a clearance to be “active” and have gotten some conflicting info. Some say it means it needs to be currently used (which mine is not) while others have said “active” is just an HR term that doesn’t really exist. I’m still really confused as to what active even means.
I have found a bunch of jobs that fit my education and experience level, but pretty much all of them require an “active” clearance to apply. My question is: should I apply to these places if I only have TS/SCI eligibility, or would I just be wasting the recruiter’s time? Thanks.
I have a follow up question to this if you dont mind. I never started, but i know the clearance was adjudicated and even know when it was. I was told by the point of contact that i have around two years to use it. Do you think it would show up as active in SC or other databases?
I think your “eligibility” to be granted access may show up. This sort of thing varies widely from company to company. You can put something on your resume like “eligible for access to SCI based on an investigation adjudicated on MM/DD/YYYY” and see what happens.
