SF86 For public trust?

Hi everyone,

I was recently offered a job and told that I would be obtaining a Public Trust clearance for. However, I was also told that I will be filling out an SF86 for the public trust.

Is this correct? Or is this actually a security clearance and not a public trust?

Thanks

SF86 is for national security positions, as indicated in the title on the form.
Public trust is SF85P.

Yes but there are “Noncritical-Sensitive” and “Critical-Sensitive” positions which require the SF-86 and a Tier 3 or Tier 5 investigation, respectively.

Got that from my handy-dandy Federal Investigative Standards Crosswalk Job Aid (dated April 2020) which I found on the internet.
