My wife is in the process of a short sale on her home that she owns completely separate from me. She bought it before we got married and we moved to a community property state. Once the short sale is complete, will this affect my current Secret clearance? I’m reading that bankruptcies and shortsales are considered handling financial problems responsibly.
Only debts that you are legally obligated for are considered, and even then, a short sale indicates that action has been initiated to take care of a financial obligation and is not considered an issue unless there is a pattern of incurring debt and then not being able to pay it off.
