community property state

Hello-

I was wondering how community property affects a security clearance. We currently live in California where I hear it is a community property state. If my spouse were to get a credit card using just her social (my name isn’t tied to it at all) and it were to go to collections, does that affect my clearance? Or since my social and name were not used when opening the card does it not affect it. Like I said, in this scenario I am not on the card or anything in the slightest.

Community property in general throws me for a loop. Maybe it’s because I think it’s dumb?

Thanks all.

I’m not deeply familiar with community property rules but I would imagine that if your name isn’t tied to any account then it wouldn’t show up on a credit report and wouldn’t be an issue for you.
