Starting Tier 3 with Tier 2 Ongoing

I have a question about what happens if a tier 3 investigation is requested by a sponsor with an ongoing tier 2.

The tier 2 is with DCSA and has been going for about 45 days. I have done the subject interview. The adjudication is not with DCSA. Its possible that I may get an offer soon for a job that requires a tier 3. I also know that DCSA will do that one if I get the offer.

So my question is, what happens to the information that has been gathered so far in the tier 2 investigation? Is that all saved for use in the tier 3 or will the tier 3 start from scratch and everything will have to be done again (employment mailers, subject interview, etc)?

I am not a current federal employee. This is for new hire to the federal service.

I think since tier 2 is technically not a clearance (did you fill out a SF-85P?), they will need to start from scratch (with SF-86), but I’m not 100% positive. Some others on here know more about that.

Yes I filled out the 85P. I think it would just be silly and a waste of resources to not use at least a good bulk of my subject interview and the mailers that were sent out for my employment.

Feds? Use resources efficiently?

sneakers-we dont do that
