I’ve been hired to a position that requires a tier-3 “secret” clearance. It’s just a Human Resources position. In 2014, I lived in Russia. Obviously, I was denied an interim clearance.
They are expediting my full adjudication. My interview was yesterday. It was five hours long, and 90% of the questions had to do with foreign contacts/living abroad.
At the end, he started to say he had to do a “special screening” but then stopped himself from describing it further. He gave me instructions to get my passport, go to a FedEx Office and photocopy the data page and the entry/exit stamp page(s). I was then to fax the photocopies to him. I could not take a photograph of the passport, it had to be a photocopy. I couldn’t email the photocopy, it had to be faxed.
I have emailed him, asking what this is about but he hasn’t responded. I believe they’re screening me for espionage and plan to send photocopies of my passport data page to each country that issued and entry/exit stamp.
Has anyone heard of such a thing? If I’m wrong, any insights into what they’re trying to accomplish? I’m the only one, so far, required to do this.
