TS/SCI to TS Job, Reinvestigation next year- retain SCI?

I currently hold a TS/SCI, and am due for a reinvestigation next year. I’m considering taking a job that only requires a TS- if I go through my investigation on that job, will I retain my SCI eligibility afterwards (assuming they’d only submit me for a TS)?

I would wait for the reinvestigation. Things tend to go faster and smoother the more recent the last BI took place. Then you hopefully can just transfer the clearance to the new agency if needed. I believe the SCI stays with the agency you got it at.

This happened at a place where I used to work. Our workload requiring SCI dropped off and the little that we had left, we were a sub and the prime was busy squeezing us out.

A number of people got debriefed but they were assured that if we got more SCI work and they were supposed to work on those jobs, they could quickly be reinstated.

The key word in your original post is “eligibility.”
