I have a friend who is traveling to the USA for a concert/vacation and has to obtain a tourist VISA. He will be traveling with me and I will be paying for part of his travel. I have to put my name and information on the visa application for him since I am doing this. What are the potential issues in a later security clearance process like an MBI or Top Secret for this. Is this more that I was honest and honest in the interview about it, or is this a red flag that may cause unnecessary investigation?
It is not necessarily a concern depending on what country he is from and the extent of your relationship with the individual, however, if you are currently cleared it should be reported to your security officer immediately, and you should disclose this information on any future SF-86s.
