Would CP501 IRS Notice Deny Public Trust?

HI

I am applying for a job that requires a public trust clearance (SF85P). A few years ago I had gotten a CP501 notice in the mail at an address that I no longer lived at. As soon as I got the mail, I realized I was about 90 days late and I paid the amount to the IRS in full (about $1000). It wasn’t that I didn’t file on time, it was that they claimed there was an inaccuracy or underreporting. I had no idea that this had been outstanding.

I’m assuming I should disclose this on the SF85P with the extenuating circumstances.

Could this in any way result in a denial?

If memory serves, PT doesn’t ask if you have defaulted on tax payments, only if you are CURRENTLY at 180 days delinquent. But not 100% sure. Just read the instructions carefully and provide exactly the information it asks for.
