I would rather them pass a new budget and not a CR because this just kicks the can down the road.
As would everyone, but very unlikely to happen. I was just reading about this and it could be a CR that looks like a budget because it would run through the end of FY25.
By the way, people have had start dates rescinded in the past. I know one woman who was supposed to start end of 2018 (as I recall) who had given her two weeks notice and a couple days before the end of the second week they called her up to say âhold on a bit.â It was only about a four weeks delay, and she managed to stay at her job, but still it was a jolt.
I agree. Passing a CR is simply putting a bandaid on the issue. This is the same sort of game that Trump did his 1st term for the border wall funding. And same thing happened when Obama was trying to get the Affordable Care Act up and running.
It is sad to think working for the government as a federal employee towards a career might always be in a jeopardy of ending before retiring⌠there are not many places left for careers to become pension earning.
This is why I ultimately wanted to get away from contracting, because there is no pension, only a 401K.
I agree a pension would be a nice additional leg to retirement; but a 401k and/or roth ainât so bad on their own, and can be pretty powerful financial vehicles since you have control over how much youâre contributing as well as what your risk tolerance is (i.e. what your portfolio is comprised of).
I think itâs my understanding as well that⌠to an extent your social security benefits will generally be adjusted with a pension, and not necessarily with how much investments cashed out/sold later on.
Wasnât trying to detract too far from the subject, only wanted to say that retirement accounts can be very nice to have, so long as someone has a decent understanding and set up (and of course consistently contributes as long as they can).
I can confirm from a very reliable source that NSA is on a hiring freeze. They took all the job postings down and will begin pausing all CJOs and FJOs. This has not been disseminated to me officially yet, but this did come from an official source. There is also planned reductions in the force (like with everyone else).
In what I found today, the hiring freeze was not communicated until late Friday, and there is a lot of frustration from workers right now.
While not the same agency, I overheard two folks talking on my campus shuttle ride today, who talked to a recruiter, that they are not progressing the candidates past their current stages. So if they are in processing for polygraph, they will get that completed, but not move forward from there and will stay in a holding pattern. Same for whatever stage or section the candidates are in.
Itâs hearsay and anecdotal, but I can certainly see that being the case.
The source I have is direct from the agency. It was something they sent out to the force apparently. There were other things too, but those apply to current employees.
Damn, not the news I was hoping to hear. My recruiter indicated that no guidance has been issued on EODs. This is quite the transition from university to the career world. I was not expecting it to be this stressful and uncertain.
Any clue if itâs temporary or something long term? So much for national security positions being exemptâŚ
From my source, at least until May.
Got an email today about the hiring freeze.
Yeah I got the official email that MD is on a hiring freeze. My EOD isnât for a few months out so hopefully itâs all resolved by then.
Got the email about the hiring freeze. Hopefully this is all cleared up by May. Iâm
More concerned about my living situation. I chose not to renew my lease. This job would require me to move across country. Iâm not really trying to move to a new place and then have to move again once the freeze lifts. However I was told I wonât be reimbursed if I make moving arrangements without travel orders. Wild times.
Got the MD hiring freeze email as well, was still in adjudication. Nothing saying my CJO is getting revoked, so at least thereâs that /shrug.
Same. No word on my CJO.
Had a 3/10 eod that is still in limbo. Still no word on these alledged exemptions
Update: Offer rescinded
Damn, sorry to hear that. Take that clearance to a contractor.
