Are You Experiencing Security Clearance Processing Delays?

Update. Just met with Investigator and reviewed my SF86. Took about 2 and a half hours to go over all my stuff. This is day 325 and it looks like my case will be moving very quickly in the coming months. Only things slowing me down are 2 foreign contacts and a Reference that seems to have fallen off the grid. He ignored many NBIB calls lol…

Tips for you guys waiting on interview:
-Be ready to provide contact information of anyone. Any associates of any activity will be asked for but not necessarily contacted.
-Be on time
-Relax and be honest.
-Bring passport (forgot mine but I am presenting it to the investigator tomorrow)

Hope everyone is doing well in the waiting game.

If you just finished the ESI, and it took 2.5 hours, I would estimate you could be waiting another 6 months before you get a decision. For your sake hopefully not, but realistically you’ve still got quite a wait. I had a case a few years ago where the FSO contacted me over a year after I competed and transmitted the case and wanted to know the status of the case. Maybe things have been made more efficient these days, I don’t know.

Yeah I am ready for the long haul still. I don’t expect to have my case ready for adjudication until maybe Nov/Dec. Either way I am still applying to jobs.

The investigator did say that the main problem was the change of administration. This apparently has been the most complicated and problematic change in history. I think that part is done with though but people keep getting fired lol.

That investigator has no idea what he or she is talking about. Change in Presidential administrations has zero effect in the short term.

I wish you all the luck in the world. It has now been 183 days. I guess that is nothing compared to your 325 days. I guess I just have to stay patient and count the days.

I keep throwing this in when needed, My clearance took two years exactly, Submitted August 2015, Secret clearance granted August 2017. Some cases take time but doesn’t mean they won’t get cleared.

Yeah I don’t think I am going to move to my assignment anytime soon lol. The investigator did kinda indicate things overall are being alleviated but not in the DMV area.

Thank you kind sir. Its hard to believe its taken that long and it has really tested my patience. I still want this and for now I am very happy in my life without a clearance. So even if things don’t turn out I still have my happiness. I feel that is an attitude that helped me.

Hey, quick question I hope someone here will be able to answer. So I submitted my SF86 back in March for TS back in March, did the polygraph shortly after in April, and did not hear anything more until a few days ago. I received a call from a lady asking me to clear something up on my SF86. I’m taking this a good sign that they are doing something, but can anyone give me an estimate on how long it might take at this point since someone is in fact doing something? Originally, I was told it would take a year back when I accepted the job in March, but a lot of what I have been reading puts it at much longer than a year.

Thanks all!

as of today, I’m 402 days and 288 working days and I’m still waiting…

WOW, two years just for a secret clearance. Were you prior military? I am hoping my disabled veteran status can speed up the process.

Yes I was in the army from 2005-2009, two tours in Iraq. Had a secret clearance in the Army, didn’t help.

March this year or last year?

Thank you for your service! Glad there are brave soldiers that are willing to fight. LOL the 10 USC 1564 is suppose help us vets.

I am so jealous of you! I submitted my TS clearance the same time. Do you have your Interim yet? I was granted my on July 18th. I hear it can be as long as 450 days from the blogs I have been reading. I would try to contact your senator or state rep if you are a veteran. Under 10 USC 1564 this is suppose to help us vets out.

I am guessing that is a TS? I would call the freedom of information hotline.

Hmmm, never heard of that. You would think i’ve proven my trustworthiness if i’ve already served and I want to serve my country again. You would think I wouldn’t have to jump through so many hoops. There are those certain veterans that turn against the Gov. when they get out, and they make it harder for the ones with a good heart, and want to make a difference. I’ve tried for years being a cop, never got hired, I guess veterans aren’t actually wanted.

724-794-5612 is the freedom of information act and then hit 7000. I would check with them to make sure your investigation is still pending.

I would look at 10 USC 1564 copy and paste the article and send to your senator or rep. I sent to both my senators and rep. The number is 724-794-5612 and you press 7000 to find out where your investigation is. I called like 5 minutes ago and it says it was still pending. Wish the government would help out vets or those that want to serve. If you are interested in continue to serve our nation I would look at the Army and look at the 35 series.

HurryUpandWait, March of this year.

krazyk784, I haven’t heard anything about an interim yet. My company didn’t mention anything about that either, and I contact them about once a month. Do you have to ask for that separately? Also not a vet, but thanks for the tip!
