Are You Experiencing Security Clearance Processing Delays?

Delay…you mean 3 years? That’s how long my current clearance has gone to date and I’m still unsure where it stands, this is with Omniplex.

Should be within OPM then

So I talked to a very nice person at OPM/NBIB and he informed me that my OPM investigation is still Open/Pending but that my DHS investigation was completed back in August. In July, it will be 12 months since the start of this so we’ll see what happens then.

I submitted my E-quip in Jan 2017, T3 investigation started on March 15 2018. Spoke to 2 investigators in Oct 2017. Thought I at least had an interim by now but the FSO stated as of Apr 2018 the investigation is on-going and no interim clearance has been granted.

Does my timeline look strange? Is there anything I can do to at least get an interim?? I could at least get a better job with one.

Investigation gurus, please help me.

Over a year from when you submitted the packet to start of investigation looks a little weird. I don’t think you’re a candidate for an interim at this point.

Does that mean I won’t even get cleared?? Am I being dragged along for no reason you think?

Id rather know for certain than to have hope…

No I wouldnt go that far. This whole system is completely broke at this point.

I’m finally cleared. It’s been almost two years but my final Secret came through this week. Here’s my timeline:

SF86 submitted 6/2016
Investigation opened 8/2016
Interim granted 9/2017
Subject interview 3/2018
Secret granted 4/2018

Total elapsed time: 22 months

Congratulations

Subject interview over 18 mos after investigation opened? Seems a little different.

Thanks! I asked about the delay and his reply was that there’s a large backlog. Nothing new in that comment but more interesting was his statement that adjudication could take anywhere from a few weeks to six months. Given my history, I fully expected six months so the five week closeout was a very pleasant surprise.

Two years for Secret seems insane. I just got my interim so here’s hoping mine goes faster.

Although it seems insane, it is not terribly unusual. The good news is that cases submitted in the past year seem to be going more quickly. At least some of them.

Congratulations. Do you remember when they pulled your credit?

Yes, credit was pulled in September 2016.

Hi everyone, I’m applying for Secret and my case with adjudicator from Aug 2017 until now, is this normal? it’s been almost 8 months! How long it usually take? Thanks.

That’s how mine was for initial TS SCI.

@FCB1899 It’s hard to say what’s normal these days. That is definitely on the longer side. When did the investigation process start for you?

My company submitted my application on May 30-2016 and I had my interview on Sep-15-2016.

It wouldn’t hurt if you reach out the office of congressman to check on the status of it. Thing does get move when congressman make inquiries.

I submitted my SF-86 in early April 2016 for a straight SECRET. Got my interim SECRET on 1 June 2016. Went to work at NETCOM at Fort Huachuca on 13 June 2016. Considered switching contractors in January 2017 and had my clearance request upgraded to TOP SECRET. Stayed with same contractor after all but still left clearance request at TS. Just had my subject interview this week 17 Apr 18). I held a TS-SCI for over 22 years while on active duty until I retired as a CW4 in 2003. Had my clearance reactivated in 2005 at straight SECRET and held that for 1 year until I left that position in 2006. No clearance required in job I held from 2006 to 2016. Anyone have any insight into how long adjudication is taking for TS these days?

Update: Investigation completed and submitted for adjudication on 30 May 18.
