I took the ci poly exam two weeks ago. Still waiting to see if I passed or failed. But during the examination kept getting flagged on my breathing. I got grilled for apparently failing on one question and they asked me if I had any explanation why I failed. I told them I took a brief moment to think about but got grilled for that too. Stated it should have been an automatic answer with no hesitations. Lastly my breathing was irregular stated security would flag that as well. After getting grilled pretty much the examiner stated I have failed and fso would review it.

Is this normal for people taking the ci poly ?

It is quite common for polygraph operators to arbitrarily accuse subjects of lying, withholding information, or breathing unusually. The entire procedure has no scientific basis: it’s a ruse to persuade the subject that the polygraph can read his mind, and that it is therefore in his interest to disclose all.
