Clearance denied by one IC agency will it effect CJO with other IC agency

Over a month ago, I was denied a clearance or SCI access, I am not sure really which, by a DoD IC agency as a contractor. I currently have a CJO from another DoD IC agency for a civilian position. I have been in process for that postion for 10-months and I was wondering if the recent denial is going to have a negative impact on my current job offer. So far, I have been abel to retain my current clearance.

I would say that the question is not whether the clearance denial will impact your current job offer, but if the underlying situation (whatever it might be) that led to the denial will create a problem.

  1. Do you already have a clearance? Clearance comes first, then SCI.
  2. Like @sbusquirrel said, you should find out why you were denied and if it can be explained or mitigated. Until you do one or the other, probably a waste of time applying elsewhere.

I can answer your questions:

  1. Yes. I have a clearance TS/SCI with poly. My employer is aware of the situation as well as the government agency I am contracting for. While I do not know if there has been a formal adjudication, but they have determined that my clearance is in fine and I have SCI eligbility. It only shows up in Scattered Castles and not in DISS. My clearance in DISS is fine with no issues according to my employer.

  2. I did find out why I was denied and I am currently applealing the decision with the help of legal counseling. I should also add that reasons I wa told were things that over a year old.

Is this with two different agencies? I ask as I am a DoD CTR right now. I got two GOV offers, one from NSA and one from DoD. If I accepted the DoD then my clearance transferred with no investigation, but NSA wants an investigation again. I don’t know why there isn’t reciprocity across the IC, but it is just how it is sometimes.

Most of the ICs do their own investigations. What’s good for one, may not pass muster with another. CIA and NSA are particularly strict and difficult. I think it depends on what got you denied. If it was something that agency just doesn’t like, it may not affect your current one. But if it’s something major that happened after your previous BI or maybe the previous BI didn’t catch, then it could cause problems.

They are with two seperate agency. Both are in the DoD and both are IC. I am not sure what to do. Should I let the other offer go before they also decide to deny me a clearance or let it play out.

I currently contract for the agency that I have a CJO with. They are aware of the denial and so far they have determined that my clearance is valid and I can work for them.

Not enough info to offer anything substantial. It completely depends on what the issue was that led to this denial. Your legal counsel should be answering these questions for you. Is he/she not?

Both being in the DoD is really strange that they would deny it. I had an offer with the DoD and they weren’t even considering a new investigation. I ended up taking a NSA position before they sent the CJO though and they want a new investigation.

Honestly, I don’t understand why. TS//SCI is a TS//SCI. Polygraphs are a different story though.

I have a similar situation. My current CJO is not considering a new investigation or anything. I am currently in adjudication and have been there for months.
