Contractor Clearance?

I am curious if anyone can explain what contractor clearance means?

Long story short, left miltary service with TS/SCI back in Sep '23 to go be a civilian, in Dec '23 - Mar '24 I applied for different positions for same IC agency where I worked in the military.

Mar '24 - Got an interview, job offer, and all security paperwork submitted on my behalf at the end of March '24,

Been radio silence since then other than the occasional emails with recruiter about status updates which have been empty.

Emailed the recruiter asking about any status update and asking if my clearance and poly will go out of scope while waiting for IC agency to finalize my security paperwork.

Recruiter informed me that my clearance and poly will be left up to contractor clearances.

Does anyone have any insight into what “left up to contractor clearances” could mean?

Sounds to me like you were put in for a new investigation. Some agencies (if not all) have a separate adjudication path for contractors, so maybe that’s what the recruiter is referring to. But that’s just a guess on my part.
