I started my T5 TS process paperwork and submitted late September, a few weeks later, finished my interview with an investigator. On July 8, I was told my case was submitted and assigned to an adjudicator and July 18 (8 business days later), I was adjudicated my TS.
Now, I am told that my case is under further review for an SCI waiver because my office wants me to start my job soon and I don’t need SCI access immediately (main priority is to onboard me).
Anyone know how long this SCI waiver process could potentially take?

Have not heard that either. The “owning” agency of that SCI grants or denies the access to SCI controlled by them. Matter of fact if you work multiple contracts requiring the same clearance and SCI, each sponsor must show as having you read in. Now, this MAY be a contract language issue. If the contract as written states “everyone must be TS SCI,” but the client may know only 80% require access, so they may contractually waive that sentence. It SHOULD be submitted as a contract modification as it places the company at risk. They would be wide open for getting dinged for non compliance that all positions require the clearance and SCI access.
I’ve heard of what you are describing regarding requiring a waiver for more than a certain percentage of people working on a contract to be SCI cleared. I’ve worked jobs where most of the finance/contracts/etc folks as well as most of the manufacturing folks did not have SCI access but they were able to work on the contract. I remember one where we were all SCI cleared but some people at another company were only cleared for some kind of Secret-level “carve out” I think they called it.
Doesn’t answer the original question but does bring back some memories… especially when some of the “uncleared” folks figured out exactly what we were doing and we still had to answer their questions… carefully.

It’s been 3 months and my case is still under this SCI waiver process at DHS HQ. I am not in a contract so I was confused what you were referring to. Is this for contractors specifically? Because I am being hired as a Fed and was told that they will waive the SCI process so I can start ASAP but it is taking quite long. I am hoping to hear back soon but with DHS being so slow, there is really no timeline whatsoever
@pineapplepizza1434, I see that you asked multiple questions on this topic. SCI is usually granted in tandem with favorable adjudication. This should give you an idea how long it normally takes.
SCI waiver, the bar is pretty high for the waiver. I would imagine that the agency head or its delegated person will need to make that determination. Those folks don’t make those decisions hastily.
My advice… be patient and continue with your life…

I’m wondering if someone can help me understand my JPAS records…I have an incident report, and a 10-year reinvestigation for my secret done recently.
A line for my My IR says “pending incident report from (agency)”
Note: my incident report is about 3 years old now.
The Receiving CAF and dates of my IR both say “N/A”
My 10-year was “closed” in May. Does that mean it was adjudicated? Or does that just mean the investigation portion was closed and I’m awaiting adjudication? How can I tell?

Hi all, just circling back to inform folks of current timelines.
I received an email from my FSO today saying:
Your T5 security investigation closed on 4/4/2018 and a final Top Secret/SCI security clearance was granted to you by the Department of Defense Central Adjudication Facility on 11/27/2019.
This was after submitting a DISS Reciprocity Worksheet back in June since my T5 was completed by DHS. DHS told my investigation was complete in October 2018 so I’m not sure why the email said April but here we are… this is also my initial.
