I would say forgot DHS and just go back to DCSA. DCSA has way more work than DHS.
Facts! DCSA has definitely picked up. However, I’m mentally preparing for potential issues. My POC on the Federal side said last week that DCSA sent out notices for them to either choose early retirement or severance. He wasn’t sure how many people were basically being laid off, but it’s concerning for sure.
For me, I contract for a sub-prime and DCSA work picked up A LOT for three weeks, but now no work again for this last week. The inconsistency might be tolerable if I had a pension or retirement funds. I’m spending my free-time learning cybersecurity, and hope to find steady income there.
It’s now 7 days which is technically 5 days because if the weekends.
It’s more cost efficient for the gov to use contractors I presume? At least federal investigators get a payment offer to leave, contractors are treated like cattle.
Contractors have always provided most of the expertise and done most of the work so the feds can shop on Amazon while waiting for notification from the contractors that the project is complete. And yet the feds still despise them. So what else is new?
That’s hilariously and true. Also, $ going to contractors flows more freely in MANY directions which might benefit important people, as opposed to money from government to government employees mandating stricter accountability. There are lots of reason to use contractors. Saying it without saying it.
I agree 100% It’s a shame and will never change
Sorry, you made it sound like you are a contractor and mad at the feds so I was trying to back you up. I stand by my opinion, but sorry if it offended you.
No I’m not a fed inv, you’re good
Good move. If you have an IT cert and high level clearance, you will never be unemployed. Only issue will be recruiters won’t stop calling you and you will have to turn your phone off.
This is true but breaking into the IT field is almost impossible. I’ve tried. I have a Masters degree in the field and always turned down.its a shame.
