Does personal leave time count as time towards inactive clearance?

Hey all,

Does going on personal leave count towards the two years for a SECRET clearance going inactive?

You have two years of leave available to take? I am in the WRONG profession!

No!

Its up to one year of personal leave. Trying to see if that means that I have one year left after clearance goes inactive

The rule was (and probably still is) that you have 2 years from the day you sign your debriefing certificate. “Inactive” is an HR term. Your clearance (access eligibility) is either active or terminated. It is possible to have a terminated clearance reinstated (recertified) if there hasn’t been a break in access eligibility of more than 24 months.

Thank you for the response William.

When I went on leave I did not sign a debriefing certificate so can I assume that my clearance is still active?

If you assume that your FSO did what he/she was supposed to do, then you can assume that your clearance is still active. I mentioned the debriefing (bottom of the SF312) because that’s something that’s supposed to be done at the same time the FSO separates a person in DISS. Ask your FSO or check your DISS record.
