I have been waiting on my TS/SCI for roughly one year now. I was interviewed last June and had my local security officer check my clearance status last week. He got back to me and said that the first half of my TS/SCI came back and they had submitted for the other half which should only take a month or two. Does that basically mean that I was given the okay for TS but now they’re doing the SCI part? I imagine this means things are going well as far as getting cleared but just wondering if this is normal procedure.
Some years back, we were submitting people for TS through regular DoD channels, and then when that was granted we submitted them for SCI though our IC customer. For a while that was a faster process-- the IC customer accepted the investigation and did their own adjudication for the SCI access. Eventually they gave up on that, seemed it wasn’t saving time anymore.
That’s the only thing I can think of, where the SCI has to be adjudicated/granted by a different organization than the TS.
