I don't know what to do

I’ve been waiting on a status for a security clearance for 15 months. At this point, I don’t know what to do. I submitted my EQIP March 2021, Investigation May 2021, the only sign of life I’ve gotten was a credit check in October 2021. Is there anyone I can contact? At this point if they have additional questions, anything would be better than the radio silence I’ve had. I don’t know if it’s a no or what. Does a SOR take a long time? Is that what’s going to happen?

15 months is not out of the ordinary when it comes to clearance processing times. It took me over a year to get my Secret clearance several years ago and it took me almost 2 years to get my TS/SCI.

Just be patient. But if you feel the need to contact someone, you could start with your FSO.

Yep, contact your FSO or HR (if directly processing with the Fed), no shame of doing it after this much time.

Definitely reach out to FSO/Security manager. 18 to 24 months was the norm pre covid. Now? 36 months isn’t unheard of. The reform steps simply moved the clog to Adjudication. But they can claim they reduced the investigation backlog.

Congrats! I’ve been waiting for over 9 months now…is there anything you did between your original post and your most recent one that might have spurred some action on their end?

No, and it came out of nowhere. I had just taken a drug test for a another company to start at the end of next month and the very next morning my FSO contacted me.
