I’m VA. Sorry for confusion. For MD yeah I hear everything is frozen. Was at their HQ recently and heard firsthand from some of the employees, and I have a few dialed in former MD’ers I work with now that echo the same.
Did I not say the everyone’s situation was contextual?
Well, I’m looking at MD contractor positions. Seems those are also very competitive though, and it has been a busy few weeks with interviewing and even having a couple of contractor offers pulled on me - probably due to funding or DOGE - but I’m hoping I can just get my foot in the door at this point. What are other people doing? I don’t want to let my clearance wither away.
Is there anyone here who successfully tried to use their clearance at a contractor despite not starting the job? My MD agency recruiter told me that my clearance and poly should be visible to contractor’s security offices, but I tried today with one, and the FSO said they couldn’t find me in DISS and gave up there.
I know there’s been some people asking and some other threads but no seemingly concrete answers.
What should I tell them? This is my first time ever being granted a clearance since I’m sure it’s relevant.
I dont know why yours is not visible they found mine
Do you by chance have any information on how they found you? In DISS/Scattered Castles? I understand if not
I think scattered castles but I’m not sure. It has been months
I know several people who couldn’t find themselves in DISS but found their info in NBIS. Did you try checking that?
So there is my context.
Everyone I’ve spoken to has had to call the agency to verify.
They found mine as well.
When does your suitability end?
Am I misunderstanding something? I thought that one does not have the clearance until they are read in after the first day at the MD Agency.
I am asking because I have been cleared, but I haven’t started working, so I was wondering what my options are in case my job is completely cut. Is it possible to go to a private contractor and say that I have been cleared/have a clearance/can be found in DISS or whatever?
If you were placed on the Meade cleared candidate list, a contractor should be able to access your clearance. More than likely, the contractor will ask you who issued the clearance. Also, the contractors client generally has to review and approve your clearance in order for the contractor to hire you.
I believe you get the clearance once it’s adjudicated. Normally, you already have it by the time you get briefed/indoc’d.
Update: seems like they were able to verify the clearance and poly in SC with no issues!
If you were cleared and had an FJO at Meade that was rescinded, what happens to that offer if you take a job with a contractor and Meade re-offers later in the year? Assuming they will offer again once the freeze is up. I know they’re finicky about using their clearance elsewhere. Trying to figure out if it would be better to just wait it out or try with a contractor.
I don’t see why it would be a problem honestly. Just make sure you keep everything in good standing.
There’s no guarantee that they will be hiring anyone anytime soon. Even before this current hiring situation, the sentiment has always been to never rely on an FJO from Meade. Look out for yourself above everything when it comes to their hiring process
Awesome! Glad to hear!
I would probably go with a contractor for the time being. No guarantee with Meade. When does your suitability expire?
