Prior sf86 used for new TJO clearance?

In October of last year I filed an sf86 for TS for a job with USSS. I was fingerprinted and had my interview but the CJO was rescinded (I don’t know why; the USSS is extremely persnickety so it could have been anything). Fast forward to now- I have a TJO for USCIS. I was contacted for the drug test this week and completed it but I didn’t get a new sf86. Another new hire found me on Reddit and she said she sent hers in this week and did her drug test.

I am guessing I didn’t get a new form because there’s already a recent one for me? Both USSS and USCIS do their own internal security investigations but it IS the same department so that is my assumption. Am I correct with this? I emailed OSI on Monday but got no response. In the process for the last job I realized I had missed some information from 15-20 years ago and was hoping I could add clarification to the prior sf86, or have a new interview to clarify the details but now I’m wondering if I will get that chance. Do adjudicators from other agencies share their notes with each other? Will my fingerprints already being on file mean I don’t need to do that again either?

I have some anxiety after the soul wrenching experience of having my first federal job offer yoinked without explanation so I’m a bit worried. Please help!

In my many years bouncing around the cleared world, it has been quite common for folks to re-submit new SF-86/eQIPs shortly after just filling one out. You’re right, both USCIS and USSS are DHS but still I would think the one would want a new SF-86. Who knows, maybe it comes next after the drug test.

Fingerprints seem to be going through a new generation as more agencies switch to new systems which never seem to be compatible with the old system. The good news is you won’t have to get your hands all covered in ink anymore with the new electronic gizmos for getting your prints.

That’s why I’m concerned, a fellow new hire told me she submitted her sf86 the same day as her drug test. But I didn’t get the request for a new one.

I can understand why this might be making you nervous, but you can’t really expect your investigation to go exactly like everyone else’s. Still, probably worth trying to follow up… I see that you did send an email so eventually somehow should get around to at least read it.

You’re right, they could be staggering it, they could be going in alphabetical order, all manner of things. I know quite a few people were hired around the same time.

I’ll send a follow up email next week to OSI and try not to worry. Thank you for your response!
