I am going through a TS/SCI clearance process, and the BI called my current employer. I had informed my employer someone will be calling them regarding background investigation. My employer got HR involved and I had a meeting where the writing was on the wall. They started knit picking my work, saying we will find a replacement and I will be out as soon as they fill my position. I am extremely stressed, I have never been in a gov position before or a cleared position. What if I don’t get the clearance, then I won’t get this new job, and I am out of my current job. I think my chances are fine, but even then I don’t know. The Bi did mention he has to wrap up my case by end of this year.No financial or crime issues, few foreign contact all family from India. Did MJ 3 times in my entire life. 2 masters degree and a bachelor.
Another crummy employer (like the one that canned a guy because of a issue with his clearance).
As far as your clearance goes, doesn’t look like there are any red flags, but as you can imagine nothing moves quickly.
Hopefully your crummy employer won’t move so fast but I can see where this would be very stressful in the meantime.
Yeah thats lame. They no you are looking elsewhere, and you are persona non grata. Stay humble. Tell boss you may get cleared, decide to stay at this warm loving place. It’s in your best interest they like you and your work. But nobody survives the microscope. If they want you out, they will find a way. If they move to fire, mention “wrongful termination,” and intent to talk to legal counsel.
This probably doesn’t help you right now but, any company that takes that attitude is that really a company you want to work for? If you have skills, you should be able to find something else while you wait for the clearance (which could take another year).
