Hopefully after I explain my situation, I can get a good answer. I just newly accepted an offer at a consulting firm and will be an IT PM contractor for their USPS client. I passed the initial pre-employment background check with the consulting firm and submitted my SF-85P and Fingerprints. I currently have an active SF-85 (non sensitive) clearance with another agency that I received in 2024 through another firm for a IT PM role.
On my SF-85P I disclosed a non-violent 4th degree felony charge that I received in 2018 and pled guilty to and did 2 years of probation (no jail time). I have no other issues in my life previous to and since that time outside of a speeding ticket. I’m waiting to be deemed suitable and I’m so nervous and really need this opportunity. Should I worry at all? I was able to be favorably adjudicated for a SF-85, so should I now worry in this SF-85P process? I would love to get any insight from anyone with similar experience or knowledge. Thanks so much
It was reviewed and deemed acceptable for your previous investigation for a credentialing adjudication, and it happened 7 years ago, so unless there is something new it should not be disqualifying as long as you disclosed it as required.
Thanks so much for your insight @Marko I hope to hear something back from them soon. Do you have an idea of the average time it is currently taking to be fully adjudicated for the SF-85P? For the non-sensitive SF-85 it took about 4 weeks.
I received notification from USPIS that I was unfavorably adjudicated this week even though I listed everything on my SF-85P forms. I was surprised because I was favorably adjudicated for an SF-85 by HHS last year. With the HHS they asked me for mitigating documentation which I provided and I had no issues. With USPIS I was never given the chance to submit any documentation over the last 2 months. Either way I submitted an appeal to the designated “appeals” email address as they instructed me to do with various supporting documents. I’m hoping this does the trick and gets them to reverse their decision. Do you have any insight on this @Marko ? How long do these USPS appeals usually take? Is there instances they get reversed?
Without knowing the specific issues of concern and your mitigation it impossible to provide any advice. You should have gotten a Letter of Revocation outlining exactly why you were being denied. You should have responded specifically addressing those concerns.
Ok that makes sense, yes I responded to the one issue of concern which was the 7 year old felony charge. I wrote a detailed and thorough appeal email and attached 4 different documents (court, counseling, employer character reference letter) to the appeal email. I’m hoping this will provide ample mitigation for the appeal reviewer.
