Question on public trust

I’m a current FAA employee and have a tier 2 public trust background check. I was hired on in 2015 and had my first reinvestigation in 2021. I have read that all public trust background checks are to be done every 5 years. I’ve also heard from other federal employees that this is not being met. I have one coworker who’s been in since 2001 and has just had his first reinvestigation.

What has your experience been for public trust or similar background checks and or security clearances?

I really don’t have any experience with these “public trust” investigations, but on the security clearance side, a Top Secret used to require an update every five years and a Secret every ten. Now they have “Continuous Evaluation” and those timelines have been replaced with indefinite periods. So I would be surprised to learn that public trust would be more stringent.
