Questions on a US Embassy low-risk/non-sensitive position

I recently received a conditional offer of employment (COE) from a U.S. Embassy and have to submit a DS7801 along with supporting documents to HR. The form required me to disclose several items (police contact and financial issues) and I want to get a realistic sense of what happens next.

My questions for anyone with relevant experience:

  • Is there any risk that HR would discontinue the COE before it even reaches DS, based on what’s on the form?
  • Would HR ask for clarification on any disclosures? Or do they more just pass the forms on to either some kind of adjudicator or investigator?
  • Will I definitely get a chance to clarify or explain anything I listed on the form?

I disclosed everything in scope of the question with the idea in mind it was better to over-report than under-report. Just trying to get a realistic picture of what to expect. Any insight from people who have been through this process or work in this space is appreciated.
