Scattered Castles record from SCI status "Canceled"

Hi guys.

I have recently stared to apply to new positions after my clearance by one specific 3 letter agency first suspended my clearance then denied it after i had to force them to send me an SOR.

As of recently, every company that has ran my clearance is Scattered Castles and DISS have told me that my clearance is good. I found this to be strange so i again asked for my SCATTERED CASTLES records from DNI to see what was up.

The new change in my record is that under SCI status, it shows as going from “Denied” to now “Cancelled”.

I have not yet had my meeting with the review board of that agency to contest the denial; infact they seem to be sweeping it under the rug because the issues they relied on to deny me were nonsense, petty and over 7 yrs ago.

Anyway, to force the issue i got in contact with my Senator, who sits on the “gang of eight” and i have a feeling this is what got my SCI status changed.

I am not versed and have never seen or heard of a status of “Cancelled” on SCI before. My TS shows as active.

Can anyone elaborate on what “cancelled” means?

Thanks…

While this is a year old, I have some information that may be useful. In Scattered Castles, anytime no one no longer needs a clearance, it changes your eligbility to “Cancelled.” This can be done for a number of reasons such as quiting from a position, moving to another position, even within the same agency, or leaving the cleared workforce entirely.

The following is speculation to your situation. While I don’t know why you went from “Suspended” to “Denied,” but the reason I speculate you went from “Denied” to “Cancelled” was probably because your case should have been granted on.

Adjudicators, on occassion, do have their cases that have already been adjudicated reviewed for accuracy. It is possible you were “Denied” by one adjudicator, but your case was reviewed by another adjudicator or quality control and they found your case should have been granted on.

If that did happen, then your status would change from “Denied” to “Cancelled” because you no longer had sponsorhsip or assocation with your 3-letter agency. This all speculation, but your reason for getting denied seem like utter nonsense and, as you probably know, there have been others granted with way worse in their background.

I should also add that the TS and SCI have seperate requirements and adjudications. While I do not know the details, I do know that you can be denied SCI, but be granted or retain Secret and Top Secret access. Whatever happened to you, sounds like you were denied SCI access and not your Top Secret access.

I hope this helped.

Thanks for your response.

That makes more sense. They have not been in-contact with me for 2 years now but i am good to go with other agencies. It’s absurd.

When you say you are “good to go with other agencies,” does that mean you have been cleared to work for them?

Yeah, DOD agencies. They weren’t even concerned.

After reading over what happened in your case, you may have to accept that in your case, you were “denied” a clearance because someone wanted you removed from your position.

While it is not rampant, it is not rare either that someone at the middle or upper management level tries to remove employees from the site/agency because they does not like them or they want to fill the vacancy with someone else.

As you may know, there is very little oversight in the federal government and even less oversight when it concerns IC agencies.
