Security Clearance Verification Question

I currently have an active TS / SCI. My TS was processed through the DoD and my SCI access was processed through an Intel Agency in Virigina. I’m currently pursuing an opportunity that requires a Full Scope Polygraph for the Maryland customer through a contractor. While verifying my clearance, the HR representative asked me if I’ve applied directly to the Intel Agency to be an applicant or employee. I said, yes - I have a few applications that are in review. Why would the contractor’s security team ask her that question?

Possibly they have concerns that your applicant processing could mess up their attempts to cross over your existing clearance if there is an open investigation. Just a guess on my part.

Make sense. I notified her that all my investigations are closed and that my applications with the agency are ‘in review’, but haven’t transitioned to ‘security processing’ yet.
