Hey I had a question about the process for fingerprinting. The company I have been accepted for is asking for me to send 2 printed cards with my fingerprints to a company called Timberline Technology along with photo copied drivers license. Looking up this company they don’t even seem to exist and looking up the address they want me to send it to shows either a residential house in Florida or a completely unmarked building with no trace of the company ever being there. I’m wondering if any of this is normal or if I am validated in this feeling exceptionally sketchy.
I think this is a trend of the outsourcing of the security process that seems to be happening. Big companies and the government can’t handle the hiring/security process of new hires, interns, etc. and are using sketchy subcontractors to do it. Sometimes the sketchy hiring subcontractors then use a sketch security subcontractor to do the security part of th process. Some of these subs seem to be lacking in credibility and accountability. They request the clearances and there is no name or contact info in the requesting agency section. Just a first name. I would definitely push your employer to give you a bit more details as to where and why you are sending such personal data. Unfortunately, that might put you at the bottom of the hiring preferences.
