I was recently terminated about 4 days ago. I have a security clearance coming up. which is T1. My HR told me they are not not allowed to disclose that i got terminated. Only my title and dates of employment unless i sign a waiver. I still have my insurance and payroll until the end of the month. Do i need to disclose it on my security clearance? for t1 do they reach out to the former employer to see if i was terminated why i was terminated or is it just a basic check of time tile and time of work.
Did you not like the answers you got the first time? Again, you are not getting a security clearance.
Hi,
I had some follow up questions and kind of in a desperate need for answer. Since T1 is not a clearance. What do they ask if they contact your former employer. Is it just your title and the time you worked there?
They will ask your reason for resigning. If you were fired, they will ask why. It is not the same thing as a pre employment call and most employers have a section in their contract/handbook which says they will release more info if the government asks.
It is better if they do, otherwise they will think you were fired for a really serious reason and you will have to prove you weren’t.
I was fired from a job for “fit” about 4m before doing a T1 and I got it right away. It is not that big of a deal, just tell the truth. If you don’t know, say you don’t know. Or, apply for unemployment. They will tell the state the real reason because they have to, and the state will tell you in their decision what the reason was.
Good luck.
@everyafter Thank you. I feel like i was due to retaliation. I mention the person investigating was lying Infront of the company lawyer and her co-worker. They took my phone couldn’t find any reason. finally she came back saying i lied to her about something when i didn’t. I plan to take this to court. I am very fearful, If i mention that in T1 and my former employer said i was lying automatically they will not give me the T1.
It won’t. Just explain what happened.
@everyafter Thank you again. Do you know if my T1 paper work goes to the security investigator or my Hiring manger? I am wondering if it goes to my hiring manager. I will be looked at differently when i start the job.
It won’t. It goes to your company’s security team.
@everyafter I know it’s not an official clearance but how long does it take for T1 to come back?
No idea, both of mine only took a day because they were adjudicated off my secret investigations.
So you do realize when you submit your SF85 you ARE signing a waiver, it’s a release of information and it is your signature granting access to all information needed to conduct your investigation. If you want to get denied, lie and see what happens.
Did you ever sign a OF-306 seems like it goes to my company first?
@HR2C Its a OF-306 not an SF-85 form. Do you know anything about that?
I did. It went directly to the security manager. Look, if the company gets upset about that? You don’t want to work there anyway. I promise.
I got the of306 and sf85 at the same time, but they discontinued the 85 and just used the sf86 I had filled out a year and a half prior to make a determination. 306 is just suitability.
@everyafterThank you again but I wish i could just say no to a job. I need the job as I am unemployed. do you think the 3 misdemeanor would hurt my case. I have DWI first offense from over 6 years ago and a paraphernalia and a trespassing from over 3 years ago?
Maybe? I’m not an adjudicator.
